The International Congress on Ultrasonics 2019 is the seventh world-wide meeting of the ultrasonics community continuing a long tradition of Ultrasonics International conferences (organized biennially since 1963 to 2005) as well as World Congresses on Ultrasonics (organized every two years since 1995 to 2005). The biennial sequence of the ICU Congresses started in 2007 in Vienna, and visited Santiago de Chile, Gdansk, Singapore, Metz and Honolulu thereafter.

The ICU Congresses aim to bring together professionals and experts from academia and industry in all disciplines of ultrasonics, covering fundamental science as well as applications in the field of engineering material characterization and quality inspection, chemical and biological US based monitoring, medical imaging and therapy, etc. The ICU meetings provide a valuable and unique opportunity for participants to exchange their achievements and experience in view of addressing present-day challenges as well as to enlarge their international contacts on the field.
