denkmal 2022

European leading trade fair for monument conservation, restoration and refurbishment of old buildings

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering IBMT, a method for detecting the condition of sculptures and parts of buildings was (further) developed as part of the Kulturerbe I and II projects. With the so-called ultrasound tomography it is possible to look into the interior of objects like in medical ultrasound diagnosis in order to obtain information about the condition. Relevant here is information about damage, reinforcement and weathering. At Denkmal 2022, the IBMT will present the ultrasound tomograph and explain how it works.

As part of the event, the conference "Cultural Heritage in Danger - Effects of Climate Change, Opportunities of Digitization" will also be held on November 24. The results of the research project under the same name will be presented to the public. Mr. Dipl-Ing. Peter Weber (IBMT) will give a lecture on the topic "Damage detection on cultural heritage".
