The use of ultrasound in therapy, such as HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) or FUS (Focused Ultrasound Surgery), has gained rapid growth in recent years. The advantages of these therapies such as the wide range of applications and the non-invasiveness, will drastically strengthen this trend in the future.
The ultrasound department at the Fraunhofer IBMT is active in this field for several years. At the ISTU/EUFUS 2019 in Barcelona, the IBMT will present scientific presentations as well as an ultrasound-based therapy system which, for the first time, allows translational research in this field, from the laboratory (cells) over the preclinical stage (small animals) up to applications on human healthcare..
