The Magnetic Resonance Group offers research and development solutions in the following main topics:

  • NMR-Technology (HF-coils, NMR-probes, gradient systems, customised constructions)
  • NMR-Microimaging (MRI), and NMR-Spectroscopy, including “Magic Angle Spinning” for high-resolution of viscous samples and solids
  • applications in life- and materials sciences
  • medical and other software solutions for image analysis (e. g. early detection of skin cancer)
  • CAD/CAM design for medical and other products
  • positioning systems for minimal-invasive clinical surgery
  • magnetic field measurements from µT to 10 T
  • consulting

Partner of the industry were and are, e. g. in the fields: medical device technology, image analysis, aviation- and space industry, car industry, food industry, agriculture, cosmetic, plastics, tobacco, wood-treatment, pharmaceutical- and chemical industry.
Furthermore, we did, e. g., peer work for government, states, and court.

MR Technology

The ressource MR Technology of the group Magnetic Resonance develops and fabricates NMR probes and gradient systems for spectroscopy and micro-imaging (up to 200 G/cm in 3 directions), gradient systems for diffusion measurements (up to 4.000 G/cm), NMR coils for clinical applications in MRI (whole body imaging) and special rotors for Magic-Angle-Spinning (MAS).

Flow Microimaging

The ressource Flow Micromaging of the group Magnetic Resonance works on the development of non-invasive flow-imaging systems.

Complex Polymers and Biosystems

The ressource Complex Polymer and Biosystems of the group Magnetic Resonance works on molecular structure and dynamics of polymers, diffusion behaviour of liquids in polymers and composite materials, NMR microimaging for different materials and non-invasive flow-measurements in porous matter and micro-tubes.

Clinical and Pharmaceutical MR

The ressource Clinical/Pharmaceutical MR works on the evaluation of drugs by NMR-imaging on a micrometer scale and NMR-spectroscopy, structure and dynamics of biological active molecules, drug testing using NMR techniques in cell cultures, tumor spheroids, artificial and full developed skin, studies on the effect of cremes and emulsions on skin, formulation of pharmaca and cosmetica using vesicles and liposomes, metabolism in cell cultures and tumor spheroids, model- and biomembranes, interaction of pharmaca with model- and biomembranes and the hydration properties of biopolymers.
