The development of tailored software solutions for full exploitation of devices and processes is a prominent task of modern biotechnology.
Modern software creates new functions and possibilities in science.
These functions together with the hardware specifications of the product define the benefit for the customer and therefore the total
quality characteristics of the product compared to other products. The
objective of integrating a system into a complex technical environment or process without an intelligent conception of software is nearly impossible.
The approach of the „Total Costs of Ownership“ considers besides the common factors like purchase, depreciation, expendable etc. not
only the training needs but also the period of vocational adjustment and the long term potential of utilisation. Especially the latter can be
influenced early in the developmental stage of a software regarding userprofile compatible design of the interface on the one hand and variability and modularity of the total concept on the other one.
